The Trojan arrives as a malformed animated cursor (an .ani file). When a malformed .ani file is viewed using Windows Explorer or Internet Explorer, Trojan.Anicmoo.D performs the following actions:

' v* O/ |0 h; v2 r%UserProfile% is a variable that refers to the current user's profile folder. By default, this is C:\Documents and Settings\<Current User> (Windows NT/2000/XP). 3 F( }9 J E* P0 n# X: t
%System% is a variable that refers to the System folder. By default this is C:\Windows\System (Windows 95/98/Me), C:\Winnt\System32 (Windows NT/2000), or C:\Windows\System32 (Windows XP).
